At the 64th Anniversary and Prize-Giving Day of Sogakofe Senior High School (SOGASCO), Prof. Emmanuel Y. H. Bobobee delivered a powerful keynote address urging renewed commitment to discipline and academic excellence among Ghana’s youth.
According to him, “education without discipline produces morally weak persons who would not be able to contribute meaningfully to national development.” For him, discipline is more than the absence of punishment — it is self-control, integrity, and doing the right thing even when no one is watching. In contrast, academic excellence reflects curiosity, resilience, humility, and application of knowledge for the good of self and society.
Prof. Bobobee lamented the decline in family values and weak parenting as contributors to moral decay among youth. He warned that children who are never taught boundaries at home may be unprepared for life’s realities. He called on parents to return to their role as leaders, not just friends, and for teachers and alumni to carry mentorship and value-based guidance.
As an alumnus of SOGASCO, he appealed to administrators and government to invest more in infrastructure — noting that facilities built decades ago for a few hundred students now serve thousands. He urged school alumni to support the institution through mentorship, resource mobilisation, and active participation in building a stronger school community.
Prof. Bobobee emphasized that Ghana’s development depends not just on educated minds but on disciplined, value-driven individuals. He called on students to cultivate integrity, humility, and responsibility alongside academic achievement — qualities he believes are critical for meaningful national progress.
